Youth players in Indiana will have the first chance to learn the game from some of the best coaches there are from an organization that has one of the world’s most recognizable names in soccer.
The FC Indiana Soccer Academy will offer their soccer camps in Indiana in June and July. FC Indiana’s coach Shek Borkowski and Italy Women’s National Team (WNT) coach Pietro Ghedin, have established the academy and are its co-directors.
Ghedin has over 16 years as a professional soccer player with Italian club Lazio. As a coach Ghedin was an assistant for the Italian National Team from 1992 – 2004 and participated in 4 World Cups and 2 Olympics. He was named Italy WNT coach in 2005.
Borkowski, the head coach for FC Indiana’s women’s soccer team has led various FC Indiana teams to 3 national championships, 3 regional championships and 6 state championships.
Others on the academy staff are Steve Brdarski, the associate head coach women’s coach at a division 1 Longwood University in Virginia; Chris Castro, the head coach for FC Indiana’s women’s U-23 soccer team; Christie Shaner, a former University of Notre Dame star.
The camp is designed to provide players with the highest technical and tactical training possible. The ultimate goal is to give boys and girls a chance to play at the highest level possible whether it be Division I or even professionally.
FC Indiana Soccer Camp allows youth players to receive top-level personal training from the top coaches and players in the World. The Camp gives youth players the opportunity to increase and enhance their technical ability through advanced technical training, focused tactical topics and small sided games.
- The camp offers smaller group sizes than most camps in the state, guaranteeing a player-to-coach ratio of 1:8 or less. We feel smaller group sizes creates the optimal training environment for youth players.
- The camp has age appropriate skill-based small groups, allowing players the opportunity to challenge themselves.
- Players have the opportunity to work with the top players and coaches in the country; we feel it is important to model the skills and techniques we are trying to teach.
